Mercury Marine has developed the all-new MerCruiser engine larger stern-drive boats. Designed and built in-house, the 250 horsepower engine is all muscle, with a little more ‘oomph.’
The 4.5–liter six-cylinder has simple upgrades that make all the difference. Improvements have been made to the air intake aft package, and the two-valve pushrod set-up continues to keep operating costs low, while maintaining the sleek style Mercury has become known for.
The company has done away with the aluminum block commonly used in similarly sized engines. Instead, they added a cast-iron block to resist corrosion and appeal to the eye.
